CEC Shows:

Connecticut Equestrian Center's shows offer something for everyone. The morning is taken up with Dressage classes, always with a USDF "L" judge. Western Dressage riders are welcome! There is a Trail/Versatility Class at midday, and then regular Flat and O/F and Jumper classes in the afternoon. No braiding required! Ribbons through 10th place + prizes; Day and Series Championships.  Our shows are friendly and fun! Contact Athene at athene@ctequestrian.com with questions.

Pony Posse 4H Club:

Coventry Pony Posse 4H Club is fortunate to call CEC “home” , and have use of the facility for meetings and learning. The 4H club, run by  leaders Valerie Woods and Mary Jo Zanolli, was started so the lesson kids could have a chance to develop horsemanship skills out of the saddle. The club is relatively new- founded in fall of 2013. Over the first year members have studied a range of topics- including basics about evaluating horse behavior and body language, tack and equipment ID, a talk from special guest speaker Dr. Heather Beach DVM, and much more. One of the highlights of the year was a trip to Tara Farm Rescue to meet some rescued animals- the trip was the end result of a bake sale fundraiser by the club where all the money raised went directly to help animals at Tara Farm and the Sadie Mae Foundation. Coventry Pony Posse is always happy to welcome new members- horse enthusiasts ages 8 and up are encouraged to attend a couple of meetings to see if the club is a good fit for them!

CEC's Summer Horsmanship Programs:

Summer Horsemanship Program at CEC incorporates daily riding, stable management/horsemanship lessons, horse themed crafts, and games all into a fun-filled week . In 2013 we introduced the idea of “themed weeks” , coordinating activities alongside themes such as “jumping week, dressage week, or owning your own pony”.

Creating dressage tests, finger-painting school horses, scavenger hunts, beading horse shoes are just a small sample of some of the highlights of the summer program. Groups are kept small (under 8), and the days are packed with a lot of various activities to engage the kids with horses while developing their general horse skills both in and out of the saddle!
