Zulu Interago, the Lusitano stallion, arrived at CEC in March 2008. Bred at the Interagro stud in Brazil, he captivated Athene at the Lusitano Exposition and Auction in Florida with his presence and wonderful gaits, combined with a gentleness that set him apart from the other magnificent horses on show.

Now 8, he is competing successfully at Working Equitation with Athene and at 3rd level with Tim Malin. Zulu is a pro on the trails, and is well on his way to becoming the Versatile Horse Athene intends him to be.

Gentle, affectionate, and well-behaved for a stallion, Zulu is an attention-grabber, and clearly regards himself as "the main man" at CEC!

The handsome little thoroughbred Pass 'Em Fast, known to everyone as Lucky, is aptly named. Sold from owner to owner for a number of years, he finally met Athene soon after her arrival in the USA in 1998, and found his forever owner.

The first few months of ownership were very challenging, as he could not settle to flat work. In desperation Athene took him jumping, and from then on, they never looked back. Having discovered something he could do well, he thrived on the excitement of competition, and his extraordinary speed and athleticism meant that he was always in the ribbons.

Unfortunately that progress was cut short by a serious knee injury which forced months of stall rest. During that frustrating time, Athene clicker-trained him to do his in-stall exercises, and then a variety of tricks, which he still performs today. Playing musical toys with his nose is his star turn!

Once at CEC, he turned into a wonderful school pony, and has a number of young riders with whom he is extremely careful and kind. Lucky has retired from jumping more than tiny jumps, but is the perfect horse for teaching young students, especially those who are starting to canter.

Lucky is a happy little horse who loves everyone: adults, children, other horses, even the dogs!

Astyages Interagro is Athene's 2nd Lusitano, and is available for limited use in the school. A solid dressage competitor, Asti, as he is affectionately known, is also learning to jump, behave like a hunter and enjoy the trails.

Asti arrived at CEC in April 2011, and is already very popular with students who are serious about dressage. He has also demonstrated his willingness to travel and compete at events at home and away, and looks likely to become a real ambassador for CEC.

One of the biggest (and some would say "goofiest") horses at CEC is Mick Jagger, more properly known as Canadian Reward. As his name suggests, he is a Canadian Warmblood, a Thoroughbred / Clydesdale cross. Although he is a big horse (16.2 hh) he is a gentle enough for beginners to ride, and has a delightful, friendly, if slightly mischievous, personality. He is used regularly in the school and is extremely versatile. Although his training until now has been as a jumper, he is competitive at low level Dressage, and eventing as well as in many other classes. Over fences, he is very bold but steady, and is a wonderful horse on which to teach beginner jumpers.

A firm favorite with many of our students, he is a mainstay of the school program.

Bailey's Irish Cream (9/11/03) is a young Irish Sport Horse. Her sire is the Irish horse, Archie Andrew; her dam is the thoroughbred mare, Little Bit.

Bailey was started slowly to allow her to develop correctly, and worked mainly on her dressage skills. At her first dressage show at Babcock Hill in 2008, she achieved the Highest Score of the day, and her photo appeared in The Equine Journal! Since then she has improved even more and is now nicely balanced at walk, trot and canter, and is starting to work on her jumping skills.

She is a very valuable member of the school, and has a delightful nature, being very tolerant of fuss and attention, as can be seen in her photo, which shows her dressed up at the 2008 Summer Camp! She is the first choice for all our special-needs students as she is tolerant, calm and generous. At shows, she is completely calm, and does just what she does every day: takes a nap!

We look forward to watching her develop her considerable potential.

On the Spot is a 2009 addition to the CEC equine team. The extremely handsome 16.2hh warmblood / throughbred cross (Art Deco - Saucy Sa-Sa) is a talented and accomplished dressage competitor with a solid and respectable record at open dressage competition through 1st level.

Since arriving at CEC in 2009, he has added jumping to his repertoire and is starting to compete in jumpers, hunters and equitation. He has also learned to enjoy trail-riding and has competed successfully in Hunter Paces.

Spot is a favorite ride for many students, and is also popular for his sweet nature.

He is a delightful, gentle horse who has many dedicated fans and riders.

JD, a 15hh quarter horse, arrived at CEC in early 2011, and is already a firm favorite with our beginner riders of all ages. He is quiet and reliable, works well on the lunge and in both arenas, and is also unflappable out on the trails. He is good-natured and patient, and a great addition to the program.
