February 14th & March 14th

CEC'S 2nd VERSATILITY / TRAIL COMPETITION was held on February 14th, 2010. This event was a great success. Results are in the "Past Events Results" section. A number of the obstacles had a Valentine's theme and included carrying a bouquet through a Figure 8, and mailing a letter to one's Valentine!

Versatility Clinics were held on Saturday February 6th and Sunday February 7th, giving riders and horses ample opportunity to try out various obstacles and exercises without pressure. Everyone had great fun!

Past events; previous years...

Below is a list of our past Shows, Riding Programs and Open Houses, which will give you an idea of the kind of events we have at CEC.

2009 Schooling Shows: The three shows of the Hunter/ Jumper / Eq. Schooling Show Series were held on May 3rd, June 28th and September 20th. On Sunday March 29 we held a Dressage / Two-Phase Show. Results for all these shows are posted in the Results section.

OPEN DAY: May 2, 2009. Instead of a 2-hour Open House, we had an OPEN DAY on May 2nd, 2009, from 10:30am to 4:30pm. The visitors watched some lessons, met our instructors, and our horses and ponies; had pony rides; were creative at the Craft Table, and enjoyed refreshments.

2008 Schooling Shows
In 2008, we held Schooling Shows on February 10th; March 30th; May 11th; June 29th and December 7th, and hosted the Arabian Horse Club of CT show on September 21st. Results for the CEC shows are posted in the Results section.

Open Houses - 13th April, 2008 & 12th October, 2008
Our first Open House was held on Sunday 13th April from 2:30 to 4:30pm. The rain held off and the attendees had the opportunity to tour the facility, met our wonderful school horses and ponies, and chatted with our instructors. Children had pony rides, and decorated paper ponies at the craft table. At the Open House in October we also had Hay Rides around the farm. Many thanks to local farmer, Byron Hill, who lent us his hay wagon.

Summer Horsemanship Programs 2008
The 3 Summer Horsemanship programs that we held this year were extremely successful:

Lead-Line Summer Program July 7-11, 2008, daily 9am - noon
This was designed for students who were riding on the lead-line or just off the lead-line. Students learnt basic ground horsemanship, including: horse care and handling, equipment care and maintenance, and had a daily riding lesson, an arts and craft session, and a mini horseshow on the final day. The highlight was definitely painting Sweetie Be Mine, so that she looked like "My Little Pony"!

July 21-25 2008, daily 9:00am - 1:00pm:
This session was attended by beginner / intermediate riders, who could walk and trot off the lunge line. Activities included daily riding, horse care, stable management, and horse-related arts and crafts activities.

July 28 - August 1 2008, daily 9:00am - 1:00pm:
This session focused on the riding disciplines that make up the equestrian sport of Eventing ! Students designed their own dressage tests, put together a stadium-jumping course, and had the opportunity to take cross-country riding lessons. Horse care and stable management were also taught. Students needed to be able to jump 18”, as well as control their horse at a trot and canter outside an arena. Cost was $250.00 for Session 1. Session 2 was $280.00 for the week.

Winter Schooling Shows 2007 / 2008: 11/7/07, 12/9/07 & 2/10/08.
Thanks to our judges Cindy Chotkowski and Amy Rader, and to all those who participated, watched or helped. Results are in the Results section. Horizontal separator

Open Day - September 30th, 2007 2.30 - 4.30 pm
The second CEC Open House was held on Sunday September 30th, 2007, 2.30 - 4.30pm. Visitors had the opportunity to meet our fabulous school ponies and horses, and our friendly instructors, have pony rides, watch demonstrations, and have fun at the Craft Table. Thanks to all those visited and those who helped make the Open House a success.

2007 Schooling Show Series
Thanks to all who participated, attended and helped at our 3 Hunter/Jumper/Eq. Schooling Show Series. Results are now posted in the Results Section.

Open Day - March 25th, 2007 1 - 3 pm
We had a very successful Open Day on March 25th, 2007, with many visitors who came to see what we are all about, and to meet our instructors and our friendly school horses and ponies. Sweetie and Cedar were very popular and provided many pony rides. We were treated to a fantastic side-saddle demonstration by Kathy D'Auria and Kattin, and watched a jumping lesson with a range of riders from beginner jumpers to adults. Many thanks to visitors, participants and helpers.
